If I'm not officially accepted yet, what am I allowed to do in the OOC communities? You are perfectly welcome to ask questions or comment to posts in damned_lounge even if you haven't been accepted yet. However, we do not allow potential players to post with journals for characters who have not officially been accepted, and unless otherwise noted, non-players may not vote in any of the administrative polls.
As a potential applicant, what is the best way to contact a mod if I have questions about my application? We prefer to be emailed at damned.mods[at]gmail[dot]com so that we have a record of the question and having answered it. Leaving a comment on this post is also fine, if you don't mind the question being public.
I've submitted an application, but it's been a while and I haven't heard back. What should I do? We do our best to list the status of applications in our inbox over here. However, sometimes we do fall behind. If it's been a week and you haven't received a response, please feel free to contact one of the mods (on plurk, with a DW PM, etc.) to inquire about your application status.

General Questions
Other Resources If neither the informational sections or the above FAQ answer your questions, please take a look through the mod question tag on damned_lounge to see if anyone else has had the same question answered in the past.
Ask Us a Question! If none of the above resources are any help, players and non-players alike should feel free to comment to this post and ask us any general or clarifying questions about the game; there is no limit to how many questions you can ask and and all comments and answers will be left visible for other people to reference. If there are any questions that keep reappearing over time, they will be added to a general FAQ list in this post.
If you'd like to ask us questions one-on-one or e-mail us privately, look no further than our contact information on the main profile page. We'll try our best to help you no matter how you contact us!
No worries! Like I said, I know the explanations of the system can get a little wordy. It's really not too hard once you actually try it for yourself, but I'm someone who learns a lot more through doing something than reading about it.
Good luck with the application, and I hope we see you around! ♥
1) icons, I tend to use a mixed set of icons because of limited canon source materials and the fact that at least one of the characters I'm considering appears in multiple mediums. Is this acceptable?
2) How much canon information is required about a character: There's a comic branch-off character whom I wish to play who appears primarily in a spin-off work in an alternate universe, but has a brief appearance in very similar circumstances in the main universe (despite the fact that he shouldn't be able to exist? oh, retcons), and in fact doesn't have his name spoken. I'm wondering if both versions would be appable, or if only the one with the more expanded material available.
I don't know the answer to the second question, but I think I can answer the first.
We've got a few people who are playing characters that appear in multiple mediums, and use icons from more than just the one they're in. I'm pretty sure so long as you make a note somewhere so players can know which one you're playing from, whether by putting it in your profile or saying it in your application and having it posted somewhere, there shouldn't be any problems.
Alright. This has been asked before, but I just want to confirm this before I consider joining. Pre-Canon (In this case, pre-game) characters are allowed, just as so long there is an adequate amount of information about their lives pre-game , right? I'm planning on possible applying as Mithos Yggdrasil from Tales of Symphonia from during the Kharlan War. So, while the game doesn't directly explain to you Mithos' travels, there is enough information about them that there should be enough information for the history.
Hmmm. I've played Symphonia but it was a long time ago, so I can't remember exactly how many canon details are given about Mithos' journey with the others. Still, if you think you have enough information to work off of with that pre-game canon point, you're free to give it a shot. I just have to warn you that I might decide that it's not enough to merit acceptance upon reading the app.
I've looked through all of the Language Laws stuff, and I couldn't find anything about particular accents. Skulduggery's main language is English, he comes from Ireland, and he has a distinct Irish accent. Would he perceive everyone else as having an Irish accent, or not? And if not, what would the prevalent accent be? What accent would the nurses and doctors speak with?
... I hope it's okay to ask this here, it's been a while since anyone posted... >_>
The nurses and doctors would primarily speak with American accents. He wouldn't perceive any specific accents unless the characters themselves spoke with such an accent in their respective canons.
Does that help? Let us know if you have anymore questions!
I didn't find a general post about these, and since it's been a while I'm definitely in need of a refresher!
1. How many people are necessary for the coliseum and basement trials? Does there have to be three, or are two patients fine?
2. If someone who has not been through the coliseum is taken with a group down to the basement, what would happen if they tried to take that person with them into the caverns? Would they pass out? Would they be trapped by an invisible wall? Or would the door just not open? And if it wouldn't open, is it possible for them to step away to allow for the others who could to go through the door as long as they made no move to try and sneak through?
1. I believe that at least three are necessary. It used to be four, but we brought the number down because people usually tend to play in groups of three. We can discuss a group of two if needed, though it would have to go through the mod team before a decision was made.
2. The door would open, but the person who had not passed the coliseum trial would be unable to walk through. It would be as if they were walking into an invisible wall, even though the rest of the group could enter without a problem.
1. Ah, thank you very much! I thought three was the limit, but if it comes down to it, I might need to take you up on that offer of discussing a possible two-man team. For now, I'll just see if I can scrounge up a third. ^-^b
For the Caverns, is it necessary to have a set number of people? I wouldn't dare go in without at least one companion, but if you only have two would that be a problem?
Wasn't sure where/who to ask this to xD so I hope it's fine if I ask here!
I run a plurk emote list for RP plurk...emotes. That's redundant LOL. Anyway! I run it, and you're on it! But it's listed as just "Damned" did you wish it changed to Damned Institute? I don't mind either I just wanna make sure to ask!
We left the description of the Greenhouse vague so that players could play with it if they wanted, but did you have any specific plants in mind? The nurses wouldn't mind patients nick a few so long as they weren't seriously damaging plants/ripping them out by the roots/etc.
None specifically--it's just that if there were any with usable qualities as they are, or in a way that's easily prepared etc, he would take some.
Cheers!
EDIT: I went with some basics--lavender, chamomile, peppermint, aloe vera, St John's wort. Let me know if none of those are okay and I'll take 'em off the list.
That sounds fine! I'm not sure if he could grab all of those without the nurses getting curious, so you might want to choose 2-3 of those. What does Gabe plan to use them for?
Sure, that works! He's got no specific plans for them, but he figures that if there's potential medicines around which aren't controlled by the staff, then they're going to be worth having just in case. Sort of a 'better to have them and not need them than need them and not have them' deal.
Hey guys, a while back I sent a 'real life' biography for Gabe to the mod gmail for approval. Around ... oops, late September. I was just wondering if you guys had missed it, or if I should send it over again?
