Frequently Asked Questions

F.A.Q.
If I'm not officially accepted yet, what am I allowed to do in the OOC communities?
You are perfectly welcome to ask questions or comment to posts in [community profile] damned_lounge even if you haven't been accepted yet. However, we do not allow potential players to post with journals for characters who have not officially been accepted, and unless otherwise noted, non-players may not vote in any of the administrative polls.

As a potential applicant, what is the best way to contact a mod if I have questions about my application?
We prefer to be emailed at damned.mods[at]gmail[dot]com so that we have a record of the question and having answered it. Leaving a comment on this post is also fine, if you don't mind the question being public.

I've submitted an application, but it's been a while and I haven't heard back. What should I do?
We do our best to list the status of applications in our inbox over here. However, sometimes we do fall behind. If it's been a week and you haven't received a response, please feel free to contact one of the mods (on plurk, with a DW PM, etc.) to inquire about your application status.

I'm a potential apper who already asked this question on rpanoncomm, and wanted to get a mods opinion on apping a character from a long ways before canon starts.

So, I would like to play a character who is an adult in canon, but play him pre-canon (when he's 12-13). There is a (very short ~2-page) flashback of him at this age, and this flashback is there to show the reader characterization points, how his thought process worked/works, and also show how little he's changed over the 18+ years between the flashback and current canon.

I'd like to play him from this age because there is evidence that show how his characterization has changed over the years with regard to interactions with people and self-control.

I'm wondering if this is even a viable option, since I would want to take him from nearly 18 years pre-canon. The character in question is Stein from Soul Eater, if this helps any.

Hmm... we have allowed adult characters to be taken from their childhood, (such as Kakashi from Naruto and Nigredo/Albedo from Xenosaga), but in both cases, the characters had extended canon from their early lives and the applicants therefore had no problem with giving us a comprehensive history and personality. Unfortunately, from what you describe, I'm not sure that your character meets that criteria, so I'm skeptical as to whether we'd be able to accept it on that basis. Of course, you can still send in an app and if it does an excellent job showing us your handle on the character, we might reconsider; if we still don't feel comfortable accepting your application and reject in on the basis of limited canon, we would let you know and you would still have a chance to send in a new application during the same application cycle (for a different character or for that same character from a different point in time).

I hope that answers your question and I apologize for any disappointing news! D8
